Special Needs

Ages 4 -18

Registration for the 2017 Spring League is now open

Our special needs sports ministry is for children ranging from 4 to 18 years old. This is a skills training program to help develop skills in both soccer (fall) & baseball/t-ball (spring). They will participate in soccer in the fall class and baseball in the spring in order to help develop their skills in each of these two sports. Dependent upon the number of buddies/helpers we have register, we always strive to have 1 on 1 instruction between our helpers and the student. It is a well supervised program where we provide much attention to each student! We would love for you to register your child for this coming fall! The registration fee is $40.

We will have check-in and child drop off between 9:45-10:00 am each Saturday. Each Saturday we will have various stations set up and each station will teach a different skill. The children will rotate stations throughout the class. The first week for the spring session begins on Saturday, April 1st and the final week is Saturday, May 20th for a total of 7 sessions (we will not meet Easter or Memorial Day weekends). For this upcoming season, if it is raining outside, we will move indoors to ensure that we do not miss any classes!

If you should have any questions, please contact Jason Hoyle at jehoyle117@gmail.com or Peter Bonner at pbonner@colonial.org.

We will be hosting a mandatory parent/coach meeting on Tuesday, March 28th at 6:00 pm in room FC204. This is on the 2nd Floor of the Family Center. We will have signs in the hallways directing folks to the room. This is a great way to have any questions you have regarding this league answered!

On Saturday, April 29th we will have our very first Night Out at the Park! At 6:30 pm that evening the NC State Wolfpack will be hosting VA Tech in baseball at Doak Field on the campus of NC State. There is no cost for our Special Needs Families to attend this outing! We would love to have all our Special Needs families come out with us for what is sure to be a great evening of baseball and fellowship!

As well, Colonial Special Needs Sports Ministry will host a special end of season celebration on the last weekend of the season.  As a special treat to both players and families we will host the players for fun activities, snacks and games while parents enjoy a couple hours of respite.  It’s our treat to you and your kids and there will be no additional cost. All kids will need to RSVP prior to the event so a 1:1 can be assigned to each participant.  Please RSVP simply by emailing Peter Bonner at pbonner@colonial.org to let him know you intend to be involved in this event. The event will be on Friday, May 19th from 6:00-9:00 pm. We look forward to this special end of season celebration and time with your kids and hope you can make plans to enjoy some time to yourselves.

We are excited about what is ahead for us in this ministry as Jason Hoyle has assumed the leadership of this Ministry!

Below is a short bio for Jason:

I have attended Colonial Baptist Church since 2008 and I've been a member since 2012. My wife Emily and I have been married since 2009 and we have two children (Collins-3 and Hayes-1 1/2), and expecting our third child in January 2015. We currently live in the North Raleigh area, but have our house on the market in order to move to the Holly Springs area (hopefully sooner than later).

Both Emily and I currently serve in the Special Needs Chameleons class on Sundays for the 9:30 hour. My passion for working with Special Needs is fairly simple-I truly believe God made every person for some remarkable reason and for a particular purpose. I think observing and interacting with special needs children allows us the opportunity to see God's amazing designs, and to witness what true faith looks like. These children have incredible talents and desires to participate in various activities...and for purposes of this Sports Ministry program, it is a blessing to be a part of offering an opportunity to talk about what God has done in each of our lives as well as enjoy learning/participating in a sports activity

I look forward to being a part of this program for many years to come. I am very thankful for this incredible opportunity!
